Ali Zare Ghanatnowi

Ali Zare Ghanatnowi is a multi-talented Iranian artist, encompassing the roles of a film director, screenwriter, photographer, translator, author, teacher, graphic designer, cameraman, and producer.

Over the past two decades, Ali has made a significant impact in the film industry, having worked on more than twenty films, including animations, documentaries, and short movies.

Ali gained critical acclaim for his directorial achievements in films such as "Empty View" (2018) and "Dad's Fragile Doll" (2013), which received awards for Best Animation at the International Open Film Festival (IOFF), Veterans Film Festival, and Londan-X4.

His films, "The Lights" and "Sistan Itinerary," were nominated at the CINEMA VERITE International Documentary Film Festival.

In his recent works, including "The Internationale," "The Kiss," and "The Black Pomegranate," Ali has explored the realm of animation.

Ali's journey into the world of film and media began at Iran's National Broadcasting Company in the state of Fars, where he started as an editor, writer, and production assistant at the young age of sixteen.

His passion and dedication continued to flourish as he produced several shows for his school, earning his High School the prestigious countrywide award for the Best School Show in 1997.

Before pursuing film studies at the University of Tehran and later at Cinema School, Ali had already amassed significant experience in the field, which greatly enhanced his university education.

In addition to his directorial and cameraman roles, Ali has contributed to numerous TV commercials and advertising campaigns between 2006 and 2016.

In 2004, he founded the Cinema School in Shiraz, where he shared his expertise by teaching workshops on various subjects, including Principles of Pacing and Timing, Directing, Screenplay Writing, Film Theory, and Criticism.

In 2022, Ali participated in the creation of a comic strip during the "Atelier Eachone" and conducted a video editing workshop at the Avignon Art School.

He also contributed to the Mnemonic project organized by the Atelier des Artistes en Exil as part of the Avignon Festival.
