Adnan Bangali

I am an independent filmmaker from Bangladesh working across directing, producing, writing, and acting.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Film (Producing Major) from the Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI) and completed professional acting training at Charuniram Theatre.

My short film Chaitanya (Perception) won Best Film- International Category at Chalchitra Film Festival, Dehradun, India (2023), and screened at Peace Film Festival Dhaka (2023) and Kino Film Festival, Russian Federation (2024).

My short film Asprishya (Profane), which I wrote, directed, and produced, was officially selected at the 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival (2025), Kalkari Film Festival India (2025), and Kuala Lumpur International Film Awards, Malaysia (2025).

My produced film Aleya was selected for the Bangladesh Panorama- Talent Section at DIFF 2025.

Beyond narrative fiction, I directed Disconnected (2025), a desktop documentary on the July Uprising in Bangladesh.

I wrote the original story for Aleya (2024) and have written screenplays for six documentary films on prominent Bangladeshi artists, commissioned by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (2023).

I have served as Assistant Director on two government-funded feature films- Jal Pahar Aar Pata Gholpo (2024) and Shapla–Shaluk (2025) and on the CRP-funded feature Manushtike Dekho (See the Person) (2025).

I have also worked as Art Director on Aarong's "The Artisans" advertisement campaign and as Assistant Director on European Union Bangladesh music videos.

My professional development includes masterclasses at the 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival with Majid Majidi (Iran), Anjan Dutt (India), and Dr.

Shi Chuan (China); a documentary masterclass with Bangladeshi-French filmmaker Aminul Arham; a session with international filmmaker Pascale Asmar (Lebanon & France) on cross-cultural production; a Film Business Writing Workshop with producer Kristine de Leon (Philippines) on pitching and funding; and a Post-Production Lab under the World Bank addressing global standards in editing, sound, and workflow.

I also participated in the West Meets East Screenplay Lab (2025), where I pitched and developed a project under the mentorship of film critic and screenwriter Sadia Khalid Reeti, and completed an Art Appreciation Course at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (2025).

I am a Founding Member of Cinema Reform Roadmap-24 and co-founded the BCTI Film Club as General Secretary.

I collaborated with the Hill Film Festival (2024) in film programming, coordination, and festival operations.

My work is driven by a commitment to socially engaged, culturally rooted storytelling cinema as a language of memory and resistance.
