All ResourcesOnline Screening Permission Guide
What filmmakers and festivals should agree before an online screening.
A proper online screening request should state
- Streaming platform
- Public, private, ticketed or invitation-only access
- Start and end dates
- How long the film remains available
- Geographic restrictions
- Download controls
- Full film or excerpt
- The exact festival edition
What permission should not silently include
Permanent public availability, sale, redistribution, unrelated uploads, future editions, sublicensing or broad promotional exploitation. Those require separate written permission from the rights holder.
