PLAY is the first Portuguese film festival, exclusively dedicated to children and teenagers, determined to promote the access to culture for a younger audience through Cinema and screening films for audiences aged between 1 and 16 years old.
Competitions
1 PLAY Audience Award for Best Short Film All short-movies are eligible for the audience competition. There will be four winners: Best Short Movie for the ages 3-5, for the ages of 6-9, for the ages
13 and for the ages + 13 elected by the audience vote. The Festival Program Committee will make the selection of competing films. This is a non-monetary award, and the four winners will each receive a diploma.
3 PLAY International Award for Best Short Film animation & Live-action. The Festival Program Committee will make the selection of competing films. An International Jury composed of professionals of the film industry and culture, designated by the Festival's organising committee, will award this prize. Embora ver parta de um processo físico, este é desenvolvido sobretudo culturalmente. Desde cedo, os sentidos devem ser estimulados para que mais tarde a premissa “vejo o que sei” seja inteiramente explorada.
Desenvolver o conhecimento, sem esquecer o aspeto lúdico que o deve acompanhar. O território do Cinema é tão de faz-de-conta como o dia a dia de qualquer criança.
Coincide com o início da escolarização da criança uma necessidade de organização do pensamento e um contacto mais profundo com o conhecimento sócio-culturalmente implementado. O espaço do filme na sua construção narrativa ajuda a criança a organizar a sua própria narrativa.
Chegou o tempo de questionar. É necessário ter acesso aos filmes que retratam as dúvidas humanas, que põem em causa, que desconstroem, porque o cinema, obviamente, também se pensa e faz pensar.
