ABOUT THE FESTIVAL Welcome to the Neo-South Independent Film Festival, where independent filmmaking takes centre stage. We are committed to showcasing up-and-coming talent and creating a welcoming environment for independent filmmakers as a local production company run by a group of filmmakers.

The Neo-South Independent Film Festival is a celebration of friendship and collaboration. Its purpose is to bring to exposure and attract attention to high-quality works in order to nurture cinematic abilities and inspire the filmmaker's continuous improvement in a specific genre and visual narrative known as Neo-Noir.

Rules & Eligibility

General Rules+

  1. In Competition Category Category Purpose This category celebrates innovative neo-noir storytelling that elevates visual and thematic mastery in the Asia and Southeast Asia region.

  2. It aims to inspire filmmakers to push boundaries and evolve the cinematic landscape of the Global South.

  3. Eligibility Open to independent film productions from Asia and Southeast Asia.

  4. Entries must not have been theatrically released or broadcast on television.

  5. To be eligible for Best Picture, the film must have been released during 2024 or 2025.

  6. Films released prior to 2024 (e.g., 2023 and earlier) will not be considered for the Best Picture award.

  7. Submission Deadline Final submission deadline: 16 August 2024.

  8. Format Only digital formats are accepted.

  9. Submissions can be made via External submission platform or private links on platforms such as Vimeo or YouTube.

  10. Language All entries must be in English or include English subtitles.

  11. Selection & Notification A panel of regional and international jury members will evaluate all submissions.

  12. Selected filmmakers will be notified by 16 September 2024.

  13. Rights & Liability By submitting, the filmmaker affirms full legal rights to exhibit and distribute the film, and confirms that
